Thanks, Wal-Mart/Briggs and Stratton/EPA/CARB for this clusterfuck of fuckery. Lets make a can that’s COMPLETELY sealed to prevent fumes from escaping into the air (which is bad, I know) so when it sits for awhile in a hot garage it balloons up and when you try to CAREFULLY vent it (per the instructions) it sprays GAS EVERYWHERE.

I smell wonderful now.

It was 40:1 2 stroke gas as well.

Imma get ALL THE LADIES at the Labor Day BBQ now.

Yup

If they’re going to try to do this 0 vent stuff, they should have a protected inflatable bladder somewhere, with a defeatable 1 way valve, so you can release the pressure in a controlled manor. But that’s won’t jive with a $20 price tag.

I just stick with steal cans.

I spent like 15 minutes wrestling with one of these at the dealer a while ago

I finally gave up and took one without a lid and just stuffed a mechanic rag into it (didn’t look suspicious at all)

I was working at a gas station when these stupid cans started coming out. More aggravating than the pressure buildup while in storage is the fact that air can’t escape while you’re filling it up, and then while pouring gas out they vented with a separate tube off the spout, so you just wound up dumping gas into the vent tube so it didn’t work properly anyhow. That meant that the owners stabbed a hole through the back end where the vent normally would be, meaning that the cans never sealed properly, vented out into the interiors of customers’ vehicles, and sloshed gas everywhere all the time.

Get a Jerry Can. 100% sealed and will vent when you open the cap slowly, with no spraying.

The thing is, volatile organic compound emissions from gasoline really are a huge smog precursor.

The problem is that nobody will want to pay for a good gas can, with a charcoal canister and all.
